đMovie Mondayđ: Drop dead Fred (1991)
đHello Snotface!đ
For this edition of Movie Monday I chose phoebe Cates fun look as Lizzie in Drop dead Fred; where she got to do all kinds of crazy stuff alongside her childhood imaginary friend, played by Rik Mayall.
Now since this film came out in 1991 the clothing/hair/ & makeup show it-In a really good way! I love all of those things in this movie; it has a wonderful nostalgic style to it! In the promotional photo I decided to base my look on, Lizzie is wearing this wonderful floral patterned dress with girly vibes for days, and an awesome Peter Pan collar! Yay! Here she is also seen sporting her hair in the style she has after Fred lobbed some off during the night, & she got it evened up. A very girly, sweet, & polished look!
First: The Base
I feel that the foundation was kept very natural, & warm. Powdered & matte preferably, not too shiny.
I used my revlon 24hr foundation in ivory, but that was way too light so I mixed in some maybeline dream Nude Airfoam in the color Carmel to warm up the skin. I also popped some pink liquid illuminator by maybeline on the back of my hand and mixed all these together but I was more aware of where I dabbed the bulk of that I think.
I also took some concealer by Rimmel & used it to brighten/conceal under my eyes, around my mouth, red spots, nose redness etc. Dab that lil bad boy!
Then I powdered with color mates pressed powder in the color cream beige!
I powdered all over, because we want that matte look! But I also powdered quite a few times during the makeup process (because I was sweaty ew lol) but I focused it under my eyes , my nose, tops of my cheeks, forehead, and my jawline. This powder has a really gorgeous color and gives that warm tone we needed for this.
Second: contour/blush/bronzer
I used a color without shimmer to bronze my face cause we want matte, natural warm tones all over. I warmed up my face with suede by EstĂŠe Lauder on my temples, cheeks, down my nose, forehead, chin & jawline-I Also tried to blend foundation and bronzer down my neck cause we do not want a line girl!
Also remember! Blend blend blend ( like mama taught me đ) but she also did have the look of a contour because it was 91!
Eyes
For this part keep it natural as with the rest of the makeup. Slide on some brown/Taupe-y shades and blend away. I also put some under the eye for depth and it made my eyes look a bit larger. Pop a cream shade in the inner corner and on top of the lid if you want but this shouldnât be too obvious, keep it blended. Then you can slick on some liner with a very light hand, afterword blend it with your finger for a light look. Top with your favorite mascara!
Next: lips
the liner is willow by wet n wild & the lippie is 205 smolder! (not positive on the brand sorry!)
I lined the lips and filled them in with the liner because I like it better that way, keeps everything rich and in place! Then dab smolder all over and blot, reapply then blot again. Since we are looking for that matte lip I dabbed some color mates pressed powder over the top which also makes lips appear plumper. Remember itâs all about using what youâve got! Any brown based color will work!
Now grab your wig cap, brunette bob, put on your favorite girly dress and prepare for Fredâs shenanigans! đ
The finished look !
this is my take on lizzies (phoebe cates) drop dead fred look! this was a really fun one that i would wear out! love it! (my photo)
